Escambron Beach

With walking distance from the Hostel, and with a large car park, Escambron is the perfect place for a relaxing swim. The rock wall out in the ocean creates a nice calm pool to swim in. It’s also a good spot for some snorkeling. Swim out to the rocks and take a look a the sea life. There’s a few little bays within this area where turtles are sometimes seen!

Set up in a shady spot underneath the coconut trees and enjoy beach life with the locals.

Condado Beach

Condado is the first beach you should check out on your trip to San Juan! A good stretch of white sand beaches, this is a popular spot with tourists. You’re able to hire a beach chair for the day, or just roll your towel out in the soft sand. Keep an eye out for the local ice cream and coconut water sellers – it’s the perfect treat on a hot day.

A small little patch of white sand to the left of the main Condado Beach, this spot has nice calm waters. Right on the edge of the bridge that crosses Condado Lagoon, it’s a nice spot for a quick dip.

Ocean Park Beach

A beautiful long white sand beach, Ocean Park is popular with young locals. Take a quick Uber from the hostel to check it out. Keep an eye out for the cool flipflop pedestrian crossings too!

Condado Lagoon

The beautiful calm waters of the Lagoon are always nice for a swim, SUP or Kayak. There is a small patch of sand to one end that is roped off to keep the water nice clear from any plants or seaweed. The water is shallow and popular with those that like to just wallow in its relaxing warmth.

Ok, so not quite the San Juan Metro Area, this is a bonus beach! Piñones had to make the list of our picks for best beaches in San Juan. A short drive away from San Juan it makes the perfect day trip. Stop in at the kiosks and try some local Puerto Rican fried snacks. Then head down the coast along some beautifully quiet golden sand beaches.

You might even want to rent a bike to from San Juan and head down the cycle lane!
